Update the import paths to match your project setup.

Features

  • Frequency Spectrogram — renders a heat map of frequency (Y) over time (X).
  • Customizable Resolution — adjust the FFT samples to control detail vs performance.
  • Labels — optional frequency axis labels.

Usage

import { WaveSpectrogram } from "@/components/waves-cn/wave-spectrogram"
<WaveSpectrogram src="/coastline.mp3" />

Examples

High-Resolution

By default, fftSamples is 512. You can increase this to 1024 or 2048 for a higher resolution spectrogram.

API Reference

PropTypeDefaultDescription
srcstring—(Required) Audio URL. Changing it recreates the wavesurfer instance.
titlestring—Track title displayed above the waveform.
defaultVolumenumber0.8Initial volume 0–1.
spectrogramHeightnumber128Height of the spectrogram strip in px.
fftSamples256 | 512 | 1024 | 2048512FFT window size. Higher values give more frequency detail and cost more CPU at decode time.
showLabelsbooleantrueRender the frequency axis labels.
frequencyMinnumber0Lowest frequency (Hz) rendered.
frequencyMaxnumbersampleRate / 2Highest frequency (Hz) rendered. Lower it (e.g. 8000) for speech to save CPU.
onPlay() => void—Fired when playback starts.
onPause() => void—Fired when playback pauses.
onFinish() => void—Fired when the track ends.
onTimeUpdate(currentTime: number, duration: number) => void—Fired on every playback tick.
waveColorstringvar(--muted-foreground)Waveform bar color. Accepts any CSS value including var(--*) tokens.
progressColorstringvar(--primary)Progress overlay color. Same formats as waveColor.
waveHeightnumber64Waveform canvas height in px.
barWidthnumber3Bar width in px.
barGapnumber2Gap between bars in px.
barRadiusnumber2Border radius of each bar.
classNamestring—Extra classes on the outer <Card>.

The spectrogram is computed synchronously when the audio is decoded. For long files prefer a smaller fftSamples or a capped frequencyMax.
